Albena and Sunny Beach or…shame on us Bulgarian people

If you have ever visited our wonderful country Bulgaria, you have probably heard about our beautiful resorts at the Black Sea such as Albena, Sunny Beach, Golden Sands and others. We have also romantic mountain resorts where you can ski down the white ski tracks- Bansko, Borovets. All these places are colorful, welcoming, well arranged. Considering the living standard here, most of the Bulgarians find them quite expensive. But it were not the prices that made those places unattractive for some of the Bulgarian tourists. It is the attitude of the personnel working at those amazing places towards the Bulgarian visitors.
As I have already mentioned that our resorts usually meet plenty of foreign tourists. Some of them are well behaved but some of them show themselves as bad-mannered, rude, they throw their rubbish on the street just because here they shall not be punished for that. Since the living standards, for example, in Germany are significantly higher than in Bulgaria, in most of the cases the German tourists that visit our resorts are one of the poorest and badly educated. Despite that the personnel in our resorts is welcoming them warmly while the Bulgarians are treated with some contempt. There are different suggestions about the reasons for such behaviour and one of them is the following-  usually the foreigners drink only a Coca- Cola or a Fanta when they sit in a cafe or a restaurant. And if a Coca- Cola costs 1 EUR, the foreign tourist shall give 2 or 3 EUR and the difference goes in the pocket of the waiter/waitress, and even though the Bulgarians order salads, stakes, wines, beer and they pay as much as the meal costs leaving some small tip. So, in brief, the foreigners can be politely “robbed” and thus they are preferred customers!
If this is reality, how pathetic our country had become, when low- or non- educated waiters and waitresses are determining the atmosphere in some of ours most beautiful resorts! Until the German tourists continue to throw their rubbish in our streets without being punished, until they think themselves that are over us while we are giving them warm welcome, then we deserve to be treated as poor people!
As for me, I shall no longer visit the upper mentioned places. I do not want to patiently bear the humiliating attitude of people who are ill-mannered, servile and hypocrite. I prefer to spend my money in Sozopol, for example, where the people are hospitable, smiling at me, asking me to join them at their table and make me feel a special guest, not as an intruder! Of course, this only my opinion, and some unproved facts, you shall have to check and decide for yourselves!
